Alex Rae claims Rangers are day and night compared to last season

Alex Rae raved about Rangers on Twitter after their win against Maribor.

Alex Rae praised Rangers on Twitter are their impressive 3-1 victory in Europe on Thursday night over Slovenian side NK Maribor.

Steven Gerrard’s side took control of the two-legged tie by winning their home match at Ibrox in convincing style.

 

The Gers hold all the aces in their Europa League qualifying third round and will be looking to finish off the job when they travel to Slovenia next week.

Goals from Alfredo Morelos, James Tavernier and Lassana Coulibaly put the Scottish side in the driving seat, but Mitja Viler net an away goal for the visitors with a brilliant volley.

Ex-Gers midfielder Rae was pleased with the latest display from Rangers and believes they are much improved from last season.

“Really encouraging performance tonight against a good team only half-time in the tie but this is day and night compared to last season,” Rae wrote on his personal Twitter account.

A new-look Rangers side is continuing to impress under manager Gerrard and they are now well positioned in Europe.

The Light Blues are undefeated during Gerrard’s first six competitive games and attention will now turn towards a home league match against St Mirren on Sunday.

They are now without attacker Josh Windass in their squad, after the 24-year-old completed a permanent switch to Wigan Athletic on the English deadline day.
