According to the Guardian, Aston Villa have made an approach for West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass, but they have been told that he will not be leaving the London Stadium.

Snodgrass spent last season on loan at Villa, and he became a real fans' favourite with Steve Bruce’s side.

The Scottish international was a constant source of goals and assists in the Championship, and Villa’s new owners have been keen to bring him back.

However, Snodgrass has enjoyed a brilliant pre-season with West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini now wants him to stay.

It seems unlikely that Snodgrass will get as much game time at West Ham as he would at Villa, but he could be a useful covering option.

Villa also missed out on Joe Bryan yesterday, but it seems Jack Grealish is set to stay in a massive boost to Bruce’s side.
