Everton are expected to be busy on transfer deadline day.
Everton may have added three new signings this summer, but they are expected to be hugely busy on transfer deadline day as Marco Silva and Marcel Brands chase more additions.
Joao Virginia, Lucas Digne and Richarlison have arrived so far, but a host of names are being linked - and here are some of the players Everton fans need to be keeping tabs on today.
Brazilian playmaker Bernard is all set for his move to Everton, as he will finalise the rest of his medical on Thursday morning according to the Liverpool Echo. Bernard, 25, is a free agent having left Shakhtar Donetsk after five years in Ukraine, and has chosen to sign for Everton before the deadline. Diminutive but technically gifted, Bernard looks to be a shrewd signing for Silva, providing there are no nasty shocks today.
A defender is a priority for Everton, and Chelsea's Kurt Zouma appears to be emerging as a target. L'Equipe report that Everton have made a loan bid to take the 23-year-old to Goodison Park, but Manchester United are attempting to hijack them with a permanent offer. Zouma spent last season on loan with Stoke City and doesn't appear to have much of an immediate future with Chelsea, with Everton now hoping they choose them over United.
With a central midfield partner for Idrissa Gueye still wanted, Everton are now interested in a late deal for Barcelona's Andre Gomes, with a loan move potentially in the offing. The Daily Mail report that the Toffees are now in a late dash to sign Gomes, handing Silva a compatriot to work with at Goodison Park. The 24-year-old hasn't lived up to his billing with Barcelona, but could be a real coup for Everton in the final hours of the window.
Gomes isn't the only Barcelona misfit being targeted by Everton, as the Liverpool Echo report that the Toffees are still hopeful of bringing in Colombian centre back Yerry Mina before the deadline. The giant Colombian, standing at 6ft 5in tall, had a strong World Cup with three goals in three games, but is available having struggled for Barcelona since a January move from Palmeiras. Mina has been linked with a host of clubs, and Everton's pursuit has been dragging on, but they will hope to finally seal his signature today.
