Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are both reportedly interested in signing West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez this summer.

According to a report from Burnley Express, Tottenham and West Ham are both amongst the list of clubs interested in pursuing a late move for West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez before the transfer window closes.

Rodriguez was a key part of the Baggies side that was relegated from the Premier League last term, but the 29-year-old was one of the players to emerge from that campaign with some credit as he scored seven goals and missed just one league game.

And the Burnley Express reports that five Premier League sides are chasing his signature this summer, with Burnley, Spurs, West Ham, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace all looking at a potential deal. The report adds that the Baggies are set to want around £18 million for the one-time England international.

A move to Tottenham would surely appeal to Rodriguez given that he played some of the best football of his career while working with Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton.

Whether Spurs fans would be pleased with a potential move for Rodriguez remains to be seen. He is capable of playing in most positions in the final third and would potentially provide Harry Kane with additional support, but he is probably not the kind of marquee addition that the supporters will now be hoping for as the deadline looms with Tottenham still awaiting their first signing of the window.

It appears meanwhile, that West Ham have enjoyed a superb summer and getting a striker in would probably be the icing on the cake for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Rodriguez would be a decent addition if he continued to prove that his fitness problems of recent years are completely behind him.
