Newcastle United are hoping that they may be able to convince Liverpool to loan the Magpies Danny Ings for the coming campaign.

Ings has endured an incredibly difficult time since making the switch to Anfield, having suffered terribly with injuries since arriving. Jurgen Klopp is apparently ready to let the 26-year-old leave, but wants £20 million for him.
The Sun on Sunday adds that the £15 million future fee is greater than what Southampton are willing to pay up front. The Saints’ offer reportedly includes add-ons, and that is apparently swaying the Reds towards Newcastle’s offer at this stage.

It could be a very shrewd piece of business from Newcastle to get Ings in this summer. The Sun on Sunday alludes to the fact that Salomon Rondon is reportedly on his way from West Brom, so there will definitely be goals in Newcastle’s attack if Benitez can get the Ings move across the line.
Newcastle kick off the new Premier League campaign with a home clash against Tottenham. The same opponents left St James’ with a 2-0 win on the opening weekend last year after Jonjo Shelvey was sent off when the game was goalless, so Benitez will be hoping that his side can make amends for that defeat, as well as their underwhelming pre-season, and get off to a flyer.
