According to a report in the Guardian, Leeds United midfielder Lewis Baker took a significant pay cut to move to Elland Road this summer.

Baker was so desperate to work with Marcelo Bielsa he gave up a considerable amount of the salary he was on at Chelsea to make the move to Leeds on loan.

Baker simply felt that Bielsa was the man who could advance his career, and when the opportunity to join Leeds came along, he was prepared to make financial sacrifices to ensure that the transfer went ahead.

Baker now looks likely to have a key role to play at Leeds, after what has been an impressive pre-season.
