Sunderland, Shrewsbury and MK Dons are battling it out for Tranmere Rovers midfielder Oliver Norburn before the close of the transfer window, HITC Sport understands.

Tranmere are fighting to keep hold of Norburn and have knocked back several bids for the former Leicester City youngster.

New Shrewsbury boss John Askey has made Norburn one of his top targets this summer having worked with the player during his time in charge of Macclesfield.

Askey signed Norburn at Macclesfield and he feels the midfielder would be a valuable addition to his plans for next season at Shrewsbury.

Sunderland are also interested in the talented midfielder and have made enquiries about signing him.

League Two new boys MK Dons have shown an interest in Norburn as Paul Tisdale looks to build a side capable of winning promotion back to League One at the first time of asking.

Norburn joined Tranmere last summer from Macclesfield and played a key role in their promotion back to League Two from the National League.

The 25-year-old made 46 apppearances in all competitions for Tranmere last season and chipped in with four goals and four assists from midfield.

Tranmere are reluctant to lose Norburn as they look to consolidate themselves back in League Two, but they are bracing themselves for further offers before the close of the transfer window.
