A number of Liverpool fans were seriously impressed by the performance that they saw from Nathaniel Phillips.
A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to laud Nathaniel Phillips’ performance during the Reds’ emphatic pre-season win over Manchester United in Ann Arbor.
Jurgen Klopp’s men picked up a superb victory over Jose Mourinho’s side. Sadio Mane scored the opening goal from the penalty spot, before Andreas Pereira equalised for United.
Liverpool would score three times in the second-half however, with Daniel Sturridge continuing his encouraging summer form before Sheyi Ojo showed his composure to score from the spot. The goal of the game was undoubtedly a stunning overhead kick from summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri to make the score 4-1.
The win will provide a huge confidence boost for Liverpool heading into their final two games of pre-season, with Klopp’s men facing Napoli in Dublin before finishing their run of friendlies with a clash against Torino at Anfield.
One player who has perhaps just given Klopp a small something to think about is Phillips. The young centre-back played the second-half against their Premier League rivals and looked extremely impressive while he was on the pitch.
Centre-back has been an issue for Liverpool in the past. And while their problems are nowhere near as substantial, Phillips has certainly earned the support of the Reds fans on social media. Many feel that he deserves a chance at some stage during the coming campaign.
