Newcastle United and Burnley are interested in signing Leighton Baines from Everton in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that there is also interest in the Everton left-back from the USA.

Reliable left-back

Baines is one of the best and most reliable left-backs in the Premier League, and the consistency of the 33-year-old is remarkable.

True, the former Wigan Athletic star is in his mid-30s now, there is no doubt over his quality, and the England international can carry on playing at the top level for a few more years at least.

Good singing for Newcastle United or Burnley?

Baines would be a good signing for Newcastle or Burnley and would enhance the quality of the Magpies or the Clarets.

The 33-year-old – who earns £70,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – will bring with him extensive experience of the Premier League to Newcastle or Burnley.

However, it is hard to see Everton part company with Baines this summer.
