Everton have tied up just the one summer signing so far, landing Richarlison in a big-money move from Watford, with fans desperate for more.
A key position to strengthen for Marcel Brands has been left back, as Leighton Baines appears to be winding down at Goodison Park, and there is a real dearth of other options there.
Brands has been attempting to force through a deal for Barcelona's Lucas Digne, and The Mirror now report that the Frenchman has indeed been given permission to leave the club's US tour in order to finalise a move.
Digne, 25, will cost Everton around £22million, and will join the Toffees after two years with Barca, in which he made just 46 appearances as he offered cover to Jordi Alba.
Formerly of Lille, Paris Saint-Germain and Roma, Digne has 21 caps for France but missed out on their World Cup squad due to a lack of game time in Catalunya, and his move may just put him back in the picture.
Digne is a well-rounded left back with impressive defensive ability, and whilst he may not be the most attacking left back of all time, he will offer a superb option in a position of concern for Everton.
