West Ham United beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Manuel Pellegrini's side drew 2-2 away at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon, and faced another Championship club last night as the Hammers travelled to the Midlands to face Steve Bruce's Villa.
Linked-away Michail Antonio got the scoring started for West Ham, showing great determination to fight through challenges before driving into the box and firing into the bottom corner of the net.
Smart link-up play between Arthur Masuaku and club-record signing Felipe Anderson saw the left back square for Marko Arnautovic, and the Austrian made no mistake as he bagged his third goal in five days following his brace at Preston.
Ex-Villa loanee Robert Snodgrass tucked home a third from Arnautovic's pass as he attempts to fight for a future under Pellegrini, and Villa did land a consolation goal thanks to a superb finish from young wide man Andre Green.
West Ham fans will be delighted with such a comfortable win, but the focus was on playmaker Anderson, who was making his first appearance in a Hammers shirt since his big-money move from Lazio.
The 25-year-old was involved in a lengthy saga as West Ham attempted to tempt Lazio into a deal, and fans finally got to see him in action on Wednesday night.
Fans took to Twitter to praise Anderson's performance, claiming he was 'unbelievable' and 'very exciting', and whilst some have concerns about his lack of physicality in English football, fans were hugely encouraged by his link-up with Masuaku down the left.
Some unreal football was played in that game. Anderson had a fantastic half and so did jack Wilshire. Diop and Ogbonna work pretty well together imo. Overall a promising game. #WHUFC pic.twitter.com/w9W4FRcuAs— Louis Warwick-Smith (@louis_warwick) July 25, 2018
Felipe Anderson looks class. Can tell already how good his ball control is and his eye for a pass. Huge signing. https://t.co/X9Eigj7Juv— ʟᴏᴜɪᴇ (@ManLikeMartinez) July 25, 2018
Lots of attention on Felipe Anderson tonight and rightly so. Didn’t see a lot of the ball for the first 10 but was electric after that. Passing was crisp, great vision and his pass for Arnautovic’s goal was glorious. Very exciting.— Sam Inkersole (@Sam_InkersoleTM) July 25, 2018
Felipe Anderson had an awesome first outing for West Ham in my opinion. Has an eye for picking out a great through ball and he wins the ball back brilliantly when he loses it. Only his first fitness match too. Very excited by him. pic.twitter.com/E7zRDBAwYx— West Ham Central (@WestHam_Central) July 25, 2018
We looked really good today, @F_Andersoon looks like one of those players that aren't gonna get us goals but will have most of the key passes/assist in the season.— Kieran (@Kieran9hunna) July 25, 2018
