HITC Sport understands Sunderland’s move for Reading midfielder George Evans is off.

Sunderland’s move for Reading midfielder George Evans has fallen through, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Sunderland had agreed a fee with Reading for Evans earlier this week as they looked to bring the former Manchester City youngster to the Stadium of Light.
However, both parties have been unable to agree personal terms and the move now looks to have collapsed.
The news will come as a blow to Sunderland boss Jack Ross as he looked to bring Evans to the Stadium of Light in time for the start of the new Football League season next month.

A number of other clubs are understood to be monitoring Evans’ situation at Reading and could yet move for him before the transfer window closes.
Evans, who joined Reading from Manchester City in 2016, made 33 appearances in his debut season at the Madejski Stadium in 2016-17 season as they reached the Championship play-off final, but lost his place last term, playing just 18 times.
Evans came through the ranks at Manchester City, but made just one first-team appearance for the club having had three spells out on loan at Crewe, Scunthorpe and Walsall during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
