Everton manager Marco Silva has told The Liverpool Echo that he wants Ademola Lookman to stay at the club next season.

Silva, though, has not revealed the discussion between him and the Everton youngster regarding the 20-year-old winger’s future.

According to The Liverpool Echo, RB Leipzig are interested in signing Lookman this summer and have already seen an approach for the youngster rejected by the Toffees.

The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 13:16pm, Tuesday, June 5, 2018) reported of Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton’s interest in the former Charlton Athletic winger (click here to read more).

“It is not the most important what I talk with my players and what they talk with me as well,” Silva told the Liverpool Echo about Lookman.

“The most important thing is Lookman is our player, he is an Everton player and I want Lookman to stay in our squad.”

Silva added: “He is our player, I am happy with his behaviour, how he is in training and I am sure about his skills and his ability and I am sure he will improve more.”

Everton struggles

Lookman joined Everton from Charlton in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £11 million and earns who earns £23,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.

The youngster failed to get much playing time under then-manager Sam Allardyce and did well during his loan spell at Leipzig during the second half of last season.

One would not blame Lookman if he thinks that his development and progress would be better at Leipzig where he is likely to get more playing time than he would be at Everton next season.
