West Ham United reportedly have a clearer path to Harry Arter’s signature with Bournemouth ready to sell the midfielder.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (18/07; 22:30), Bournemouth are ready to cash in on Harry Arter this summer, with West Ham maintaining an interest in landing the Republic of Ireland international.

Arter has been a tremendous servant for the Cherries, having made over 250 appearances for the club in all competitions. However, he played a much less prominent role for Eddie Howe’s men last term.

It was the first time that the 28-year-old has played fewer than 20 times in a single season since his arrival at the Vitality Stadium, and it appears that Bournemouth are now willing to let the midfielder move on this summer.

The Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (18/07; 22:30) reports that Bournemouth have made a £17 million bid for Jefferson Lerma of Levante, and that potential move should leave the path clear for the Hammers target to move on ahead of the new season.

Manuel Pellegrini would be forgiven for wanting to strengthen his options in the middle of park, even after a fantastic start to the window for the Irons. The side looked vulnerable in midfield at times last season, and unfortunately, Jack Wilshere is still something of a risky signing at this stage, even on a free transfer.

Arter may not be the marquee addition that the Irons fans may be hoping for, but if West Ham do decide to pursue a move, he could be a shrewd acquisition if Bournemouth are willing to sell for a decent price.
