Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has given his verdict on Anfield and the Reds' fans to the club’s official website.

The Merseyside outfit have secured the services of Shaqiri from Championship club Stoke in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Reds had to pay the Potters a transfer fee of £13 million in order to secure the services of the 26-year-old winger.

Shaqiri has given his take on Anfield and on the Liverpool fans, and told the club’s official website: “It’s an amazing stadium. I played there with Stoke and I knew it before – there’s an amazing atmosphere with amazing fans.

“I hope I can enjoy it and give them something back with the team. We can give them a lot of happiness and success. We want to win games and be successful.

“As an opponent it’s always difficult to come into the stadium – I knew it and I know it – so I’m really happy to now be with this family and play against other top teams, good teams, in this stadium and to try to give them good performances.”

Good signing for Liverpool

Shaqiri is one of the best wingers, and Liverpool have made a bargain signing by securing the Switzerland international’s services for a reported £13m fee.

True, the former Inter Milan and Bayern Munich winger will not be guaranteed a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup, but the 26-year-old will enhance the quality of the squad and given the manager more options on the substitutes’ bench.

Liverpool will be aiming to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United for the Premier League title next season.

Having reached the final of the Champions League last season, the Merseyside outfit will also be looking to repeat those heroics in 2018-19.
