Wilmar Barrios has told Ole that he has heard Tottenham Hotspur fans want him to join this summer.

The Colombia international has been heavily linked to a move to Tottenham in recent weeks.

Marca, the Colombian edition of the newspaper, reported this week that Spurs have spoken to the 24-year-old's family about him leaving Boca Juniors for North London.

Speaking to El Universal, he claimed recently that he was focused on the Argentine outfit and although the £25 million-rated defensive midfielder reiterated that sentiment again, Barrios admits that he likes the Premier League and has been told that Lilywhites fans are keen to see him sign.

He told Ole, when asked about Tottenham's interest: "I like Premier League. It's a top league in the world, but I only think about Boca.

"I have been told that the Tottenham fans want me to go, but I do not know English yet, ha."

Based on his World Cup showings, Barrios would be a brilliant signing by Mauricio Pochettino.

He was one of his country's stand-out players in Colombia's second-round clash against England and he looks like he might seriously challenge Victor Wanyama's spot in Pochettino's best XI.

The pressure is on Tottenham to win a trophy next season, having failed to win anything since the Argentine took charge four years ago, and the addition of Barrios might just help a lot on the silverware front.
