England have had an impressive World Cup campaign by every standard, despite losing to Croatia in the semifinals on Wednesday.
The Three Lions play Belgium later today day in the third-place play-off, and manager Gareth Southgate could ring few changes to his starting lineup.
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Leicester City's centre-back Harry Maguire and Tottenham Hotspur's Kieran Trippier have been the major standout players of the campaign for England, and while it would be hard to choose who the country's best player at the tournament is, Everton legend Wayne Rooney reckons it's Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson.
“Jordan Henderson has excelled as Liverpool captain, helping them to the Champions League final," Rooney said, as quoted on ESPN's official YouTube channel (12:45 to 12:55).
“And I actually thought he was England’s best player throughout the World Cup.”
