Colback spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan at Forest, having joined from Premier League side Newcastle in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old midfielder - who earns £35,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com - made 16 starts in the Championship for the Reds last season, scoring one goal in the process.

I’d like him but would much prefer adding a big unit to the middle of the park to boss it— Liam Devlin (@Ldevlin24) July 12, 2018
A season long loan for Colback would make perfect sense. Only pay a proportion of his huge wages, & if .. a big if we can get promoted, we part ways in the summer and move on to better players for the Premier League. #NFFC— Jonathan Antcliffe (@Jonny90nffc) July 13, 2018
Disagree with you on all that.— Superreds (@superreds1973) July 12, 2018
JC is a cut above on a few cuts above all the players you have mentioned
I am, quality in the championship— duncan (@DuncanNFFC02) July 12, 2018
Top player at this level— Superreds (@superreds1973) July 12, 2018
A lot of what he does goes unnoticed, just filling in space ect, part and parcel of that position but he is very good at it at this level. Will give freedom for our more attacking players to go forward.— Liam Statham (@Liamstatham) July 12, 2018
He’s a great player without a doubt. My only concern is, how much does he really want to come? He seems to be holding out for a better offer. If he wanted to come he would have already.— Scott Lee (@scottylee90941) July 12, 2018
Colback would be a great signing.— Ed 034 (@dingdinghopkin) July 12, 2018
He and Watson keeping things organised, whilst the attacking players create havoc.
Would love to see AK get this over the line #nffc
Anyone complaining about Colback signing doesn’t know football, I understand with the wages but you can’t say he hasn’t got the ability, quality footballer #nffc— Jack Levo (@LevoForest) July 12, 2018
Loan move would be ideal, keep his wages within the wage structure at the club. Not going to get a more solid defensive spine in the Championship than Colback, Watson, Dawson and Pants #NFFC https://t.co/q25znzhmCM— Gaurav Gupta (@NottinghamGupta) July 12, 2018
Why are people turning their noses up at Colback? Quality at this level, would be a very good piece of business and would add a much need piece to the jigsaw. #NFFC— CTS (@CTS4401) July 12, 2018
Love the Jack Colback debate on here. Very divisive. There’s already a few dm at #nffc but I think he’s better than most of them. So for me, it’s a yes, he makes us better.— Hedley Harrison (@HedleyHarrison) July 12, 2018
