Newcastle United have been left disappointed after missing out on Alassane Plea.
Newcastle are now having to look elsewhere to find a striker, as Rafael Benitez looks to strengthen up-front.
And Newcastle fans are fearing the worst for their striker search, as they continue to miss out on targets.
Just look for bargain basements freebies or loan deals do not expect any real quality striker to join— Mick Parry (@MickP1964) July 13, 2018

Horrible feeling it’ll go nowhere. Owner simply won’t spend a penny...— Will (@Willaz84) July 13, 2018
Shame would have been a decent player I think.— C.Griffin (@cg40k) July 13, 2018
we cannot have seriously bid for him at that price its no way we can say it's too much money - it's basically straight swap for mitro - pretty ridiculous. Said it before and said it again, zero hope of breaking our transfer record.— Mark Douglas (@markattias) July 13, 2018

There was genuine optimism from Newcastle fans that Benitez would be backed with funds this summer.
However, Newcastle have struggled to make any expensive additions to their squad so far.
The Magpies have made three signings in the form of Kenedy, Martin Dubravka and Ki Sung-Yeung, but Mike Ashley is yet to invest significant funds into improving Benitez’s side.
Salomon Rondon of West Bromwich Albion has been tipped as a potential contingency option for Newcastle.
