Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers reportedly want former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Clare at Ibrox, with Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic also claimed to be interested in him.

Sean Clare has left Sheffield Wednesday, and there has been speculation that Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic are among the clubs interested in the 21-year-old.

A report in TEAMtalk in June claimed that Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers had held talks with Clare, who is a free agent following his departure from Wednesday in the Championship in England this summer.

The report also credited Leeds United, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham with interest in the 21-year-old midfielder.

However, with Clare still a free agent, it seems that Heart of Midlothian are taking an interest in the Englishman.

According to Capital City Press, Hearts manager Craig Levein has held talks with Clare and is hoping to persuade him to move to Tynecastle Park in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the 21-year-old former Wednesday midfielder met Levein and was given a tour of Tynecastle Park and the Scottish Premiership club’s training base earlier this week.

The report, though, has stated that Clare is still considering his options, and perhaps this could still give Celtic and Rangers some hope.

Given that the Gers and the Hoops spoke to Clare, as reported by TEAMtalk, it is clear that the Scottish Premiership giants want him.

While Hearts may be keen on the 21-year-old as well, as reported by Capital City Press, if Clare has still not decided on his future, then both Rangers and Celtic may still have a chance.
