Rangers are reportedly confident that Jake Cooper will be heading to Ibrox this summer.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are confident of securing a deal for Millwall defender Jake Cooper – and the Daily Mail claim that they are close to activating a release clause in his contract.
The Gers tied up their eighth and ninth new signings of the summer on Tuesday, as midfielder Lassana Coulibaly and striker Umar Sadiq arrived on season-long loan deals from Angers and Roma respectively.
The duo join Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic, Scott Arfield, Ovie Ejaria and Jamie Murphy in signing Rangers deals this summer, and new manager Steven Gerrard isn’t finished yet.
With Bruno Alves set for a move to Parma, Rangers need another centre back – even after paying out for Goldson and Katic – and a considerable fee has been offered for Millwall’s Jake Cooper.
The Daily Mail report that Rangers have offered £3million for Cooper, and are therefore nearing a fee matching his release clause, whilst The Scottish Sun claim Rangers are ‘confident’ of luring him to Ibrox this summer.
Millwall don’t want to sell the 23-year-old centre back, but Rangers seemingly aren’t taking no for an answer, and may yet keep increasing their offer until they do match that release clause, giving Millwall no choice but to sell.

Cooper was on the books of Reading, and whilst he impressed in the 2015-16 season, he ended up on loan at Millwall in 2017, and made his move permanent last summer.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Cooper has been a regular for Neil Harris at Millwall, making 42 appearances and scoring four goals last season, and he could now head to Ibrox to give Gerrard another option in the heart of defence.
