West Ham United are currently on pre-season tour in Switzerland.
West Ham are currently in Switzerland, as Pellegrini puts his new West Ham team through their paces for the first time.
And Obiang was impressed by the new Hammers boss’ managerial style in his first training session.
“Of course [his presence inspires the players], and it’s the same when you play with a player who has won something, as you feel he is strong and you have two options – to be good like him or be better than him. If you become better than him, then the squad can start to become a good level,” the £4.3 million signing said (the Telegraph).
“He was talking a little bit with everybody because it is still early and he still has many players [to get to know] so, day by day, he will start to know everybody.
“He looks really calm and that made me feel that sensation. I also feel calm.”
Obiang could have a key role to play at West Ham next term, as he appears to be the London club’s most key defensive midfielder.
Obiang enjoyed an impressive campaign last term, and with Pellegrini promising to bring an attacking style, the Spanish midfielder’s defensive qualities could be vital.
Pellegrini appears to be determined to improve the creativity available to him at West Ham, but he will need Obiang in his side as a protective shield for the Hammers’ defence.
West Ham’s first competitive action of the new campaign comes on 11th August, when they take on Liverpool at Anfield.
