Sporting Lisbon holding midfielder is reportedly closing in on a move to La Liga side Real Betis for a fee of £17.6million after multiple links with Premier League clubs - but Everton fans have reacted with relief.

Portuguese outlet Record claimed on their website that Carvalho was nearing a move to Spanish side Betis, after Portugal were knocked out of the World Cup by Uruguay in the Round of 16.
