East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest and Derby County are among the clubs to have held initial talks with Tosin Kehinde, according to All Nigeria Soccer.

The website claims Forest, Derby, Brentford, Reading and Queens Park Rangers have each spoken to the 20-year-old, whose Manchester United contract expired last month.

However, it adds the quintet have 'balked' at United's request for a £500,000 compensation pay-out, with discussions to extend his Old Trafford stay still ongoing.

Kehinde, who was a regular in Manchester United's Under-23 side last season, is also said to be interesting clubs in Spain, Austria, France, Turkey, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands - none of whom would be required to pay as much for the versatile midfielder.

And All Nigeria Soccer reports United have ruled out a loan for Kehinde if he does agree to remain a Red Devil.

Jose Mourinho the head coach

The respective Nottingham Forest and Derby mangers, Aitor Karanka and Frank Lampard, enjoy a healthy relationship with Jose Mourinho, having worked with the Manchester United boss at previous clubs.

Would Kehinde be a good signing for Nottingham Forest or Derby County?
