Celtic are reportedly chasing Liverpool winger Harry Wilson.
Celtic have completed one signing so far this summer by landing forward Odsonne Edouard on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain, but another attacking addition may be coming.
The Bhoys have seen winger Patrick Roberts return to Manchester City after two-and-a-half years on loan with the club, and manager Brendan Rodgers may now want another forward who can cut in from the right flank onto his left foot.
Liverpool's Harry Wilson fits that particular bill, and The Sun report that Celtic are now ready to make their move for the Welshman in the hope of bringing him to Glasgow on loan.
Wilson, 21, joined Liverpool back in 2005 and has been coming up through the ranks at Anfield, but he has made just one first-team appearance for the club.
The talented winger spent the second half of last season out on loan with Hull City, and starred for the Tigers with seven goals and three assists in 13 appearances, helping them avoid relegation from the Championship.
Another loan move looks to be on the cards for Wilson, and Celtic are positioning themselves as a potential destination – but not all Bhoys fans are impressed with the rumours.
Some are fed up of Celtic taking young players on loan from other clubs and want to see more focus placed on developing the club's own youngsters, and don't want Wilson unless the deal comes with a purchase option.
Others think that Liverpool would rather send Wilson to Rangers in order to help Gerrard, whilst there is some debate over whether Wilson is good enough for Celtic anyway.
Unless it includes an Option to buy, pointless.— Conor Cheyne (@ConorCheyne) July 2, 2018
Cba with loans anymore. Unless there’s an option to buy like with Edouard, don’t bother— John Hodgkiss (@19jhodgkiss) July 2, 2018
John McGinn and Harry Wilson. Not overly convinced.— Kieran Caw (@Kieran_Celtic) July 2, 2018
Harry Wilson is the latest name linked with us, but on a loan deal. Isn't it time we focused on developing our own players rather than doing it for other clubs? https://t.co/vNqivitPp2— TheCelticBlog (@CelticBlog2018) July 3, 2018
Celtic bringing in Harry Wilson and John Mcginn to replace Roberts and Armstrong is a come down.— Wolfe Of Parkhead (@ParkheadWolfe) July 3, 2018
Bit sick of loans but I would take Harry Wilson. Good wee player. Direct. Scored 7 goals in 13 outings for Hull last season in championship. Be nice to get a 2 year loan though.— Simply Celtic (@TheHoopsFan) July 2, 2018
No chance are we signing Harry Wilson btw Klopp said he’d help Gerrard in any way he can, giving us a loan probably isn’t one of them— Paul (@P__67) July 2, 2018
Wilson on loan with an option to buy at the end would the best option. Can’t have what happened with Paddy again.— Jamie (@Jamie67_) July 2, 2018
