Tottenham Hotspur youngster Marcus Edwards has been billed as one of the club's best prospects.

Yet two years after first impressing on pre-season tour and being compared to Lionel Messi by manager Mauricio Pochettino, he is yet to earn a first team start.

His loan spell at Norwich City was a disaster earlier in 2018, also failing to crack the first team.

The Guardian reported last month that Edwards does not believe he will break through at Spurs and wants to leave.

His future remains the subject of debate and a message he posted on Instagram last night re-ignited it.

Edwards posted a cryptic message saying 'time will tell' featuring him standing in front of a Mercedes.

This sparked a variety of responses, with fans urging him to knuckle down and try and make it at Tottenham.

Edwards' talent has never been in question, with eye catching goals for Tottenham and England's youth teams on his CV.

What has been questioned is his attitude and motivation, and fans are calling on him to really focus and not give up on breaking through at Spurs, hoping it is not too late.

Here is a look at a cross-section of the responses...
