According the Northern Echo, Newcastle United have been given indication that they can sign Chelsea’s Kenedy - and that would be a transfer deal that everybody involved at St. James’ Park could celebrate.

Newcastle have been chasing Kenedy for much of the summer so far, and his arrival would be the most meaningful transfer that the Magpies could make this summer.

Kenedy spent the back end of last season on loan at Newcastle and proved just how impactful he could be for the Magpies, with his performances catching the eye.

With Benitez wanting signings to make Newcastle contenders to win silverware, Kenedy’s arrival would be the first real indication of the Tynesiders’ ambition.

It is a transfer which could even win Mike Ashley some plaudits, as it would show that the Newcastle owner was willing to invest.

Newcastle have been bargain hunting for many seasons now, but Kenedy would be the highest quality player to have walked through the doors on a permanent deal at St. James’ Park in years.
