Newcastle United have been named as one of the clubs interested in Nice forward Alassane Plea.
West Ham are claimed to have submitted a £27 million bid for the attacker.
This is higher than Newcastle's record spend, and several fans believe they have little chance of signing the Frenchman.
Landing him would be a major statement of intent from Newcastle owner Mike Ashley... but he has not done much of this during his time in charge.
Newcastle have made one signing so far this summer, signing Ki Sung Yeung on a free transfer.
Plea would be an exciting addition to the Premier League, having scored 20 goals for Nice last season.
Here is a look at how Newcastle fans reacted on Twitter to their reported interest in the Plea hunt...

Alassane Plea is the dream. Not happening though. No way will we go anywhere near the asking price #NUFC— Hello, I am Nicky (@ORANGEYPURPLE) July 1, 2018
