Ashley Williams reportedly set to miss Everton's first day of training; not good news for his chances of staying

Everton boss Marco Silva is said to be keen to offload Ashley Williams and is expected to allow him to leave Goodison Park this summer.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Ashely Williams is set to miss Everton training today due to injury, and that is terrible news for his chances of staying at Goodison Park.

The Guardian have suggested that Marco Silva is hoping to sell Williams this summer.

And the Welsh defender appears to have no chance of changing his manager’s mind with his performances in training, as he isn’t in condition to be on the pitch at the moment.

The Everton centre-back is still receiving treatment for an injury, and will have to watch his teammates from the sidelines.

Everton are simply undergoing fitness tests today, but with Williams unable to show Silva his qualities, he is unlikely to be able to change Silva’s mind about selling him.

Williams endured a difficult season at Goodison Park last term, and his departure is unlikely to concern Everton fans too much, with the veteran defender seemingly edging closer and closer to the exit door.

If Williams does leave Everton this summer it will be bring to an end his two-year stay at the club, after he signed on a £12 million deal back in 2016 (BBC Sport).
