Griffiths has been on the books of the Glasgow giants since January 2014 when he joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers in England for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £1 million.
The Scotland international striker has established himself as an important player for the Glasgow giants, and the 27-year-old has stated that he will put pen to paper on a new deal this summer.
The former Dundee striker is out of contract at Celtic in the summer of 2021, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Griffiths told The Scottish Sun: “We are still speaking behind the scenes. We are not far away now and hopefully it will get done.
“When I speak to the manager, he always says I am a big part of his plans. As long as he is at Celtic, he wants me here and that’s good enough for me.”
Griffiths has to fight for his place in the Celtic starting lineup, but there is no doubt that he will rise up to the challenge.
Competition for places in Brendan Rodgers’s side is fierce, but the 27-year-old has shown time and time again that it would be foolish to write him off.
The 27-year-old committing his long-term future to Celtic would certainly be great news for the fans.
