This time last week, Tottenham Hotspur's hope of signing Malcom looked about as dead as Germany's hope of retaining the World Cup.

According to Calciomercato, Inter Milan were "confident" of signing the Bordeaux winger and a loan move to Italy looked imminent.

However, Calciomercato have now reported that Inter are no longer willing to negotiate with Bordeaux due to the Ligue 1 club's demands.

Therefore, Tottenham could potentially have a lifeline in regards to signing the Brazilian, who is worth around £50 million according to The Sun - a figure that would make him the Lilywhites' most expensive player of all time.

The Italian outlet adds that Bordeaux will now wait for "concrete offers" from England and if Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino really wants him, this might be the time to strike.

Pochettino and Inter aren't the only interested parties, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are fans of the 21-year-old.

If true, time is of the essence for Tottenham. They might not get an opening like this again.
