Tottenham Hotspur may not be overly keen on signing players based on their World Cup displays, but they have been linked with a move for one of the breakout stars in Russia.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino suggested before the tournament started that he wanted business done before the World Cup began, but no deals materialised for Tottenham.

Now, Ole in Argentina report that Tottenham are keen on Porto playmaker Juan Fernando Quintero, who has starred for Colombia at the World Cup so far.

It's added that Real Madrid and even Russian side Krasnodar are keen on Quintero, who is set to complete a permanent move to Argentinian side River Plate before seemingly being sold on for huge profit.

Quintero, 25, has been on loan with River since January, and will reportedly join permanently in a £3million deal, before his release clause with the Argentinian giants will immediately be set at £19.5million.

Once highly rated with the Colombia Under-20's, Quintero has struggled to find a home domestically having struggled to live up to his billing with Porto since a 2013 move from Pescara, and has subsequently been loaned out to the likes of Rennes, Independiente Medellin and now River.

The left-footed playmaker has starred at the World Cup with a superb free kick goal against Japan and then a sumptuous assist for Falcao's goal against Poland, sparking alleged interest from Spurs.

Fans have now been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours, suggesting that they would like to see Quintero arrive alongside international teammate Wilmar Barrios, though some fear that Real Madrid are already leading Spurs in the race for his signature - and others simply don't want him at all, questioning his mentality and highlighting that even Porto don't want him.
