According to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, another English club are pursuing the signature of Barcelona defender Marlon Santos as West Ham United stall on a potential move.

The Hammers have been busy in the transfer market of late, as having landed Ryan Fredericks from Fulham, they snapped up goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and centre back Issa Diop last week.

More deals could be on the horizon for West Ham as they pursue another defender in Swansea City's Alfie Mawson, which may just sum up why another move has gone quiet.

West Ham were strongly linked with Barcelona's Marlon last month, as his two-year loan spell with Nice was cut short after just one season, with many expecting him to join West Ham permanently.

However, after The Guardian reported that West Ham had concerns about the Brazilian's suitability to play in the physical Premier League, the move has seemingly gone dead.

Now, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that West Ham are indeed stalling on a move, and another Premier League team are now waiting in the wings to swoop in and sign him.

It's unclear just who the club is, but if West Ham still have any plans of signing Marlon, then they will need to move quickly to get it done before a rival comes in and snatches him.

Marlon, 22, has been with Barcelona since signing on loan from Fluminense in 2016, and whilst he did show potential with Nice, it's understandable that West Ham would have concerns given that he stands at less than 6ft tall.
