Poland's World Cup campaign kicked off with a defeat on Tuesday evening, as they lost 2-1 to Senegal in Moscow.

The two sides watched on as Japan beat Colombia 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon in a shock result, and knew that a win would be vital to kickstart their campaigns.

However, Adam Nawalka's Poland side were dull and uninspiring for much of the game, and fell behind in the first half when Idrissa Gueye's shot was deflected into his own net by Thiago Cionek.

Poland didn't really improve after the break, and Senegal made it 2-0 in controversial fashion, with M'Baye Niang allowed back onto the pitch after injury, immediately capitalising on a stray pass from Grzegorz Krychowiak to score.

Krychowiak did pull one back for Poland, but their display was entirely undeserving of anything from the game, an they may well face an uphill battle to qualify for the last 16.

The second Senegal goal was a farce from a Poland point of view, with Krychowiak seemingly blindly knocking the ball back to goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, and he hared off his line only to be beaten to the ball by Niang.

The Juventus stopper didn't enjoy his best day, and fans have now taken to Twitter to suggest that Poland must start new West Ham signing Lukasz Fabianski in goal instead.

Fabianski, 33, sat on the bench on Tuesday and joined West Ham today, with fans suggesting that picking Szczesny over him was destined to end poorly, and feel he must start Poland's next World Cup clash after Szczesny's horror show.
