But what do we know about the rumoured Leeds target? Here are five facts…

Toulouse's Brazilian midfielder Somalia (R) vies with Ajaccio's French midfielder Manuel Cabit during the French L1

5) While he may be a French citizen, Cabit was born in Martinique. The Caribbean nation called him into their preliminary squad for last year’s Gold Cup, although he failed to make the final cut.

4) Cabit began his career on the books of Sochaux-Montbéliard in France’s Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, close to the border with Germany. He failed to appear for the Ligue 2 side, however, and dropped down the leagues to play for Aubervilliers, Chambly, Belfort and Béziers.

3) It wasn’t until 2016 that Cabit first appeared in France’s second tier, after being signed by current employers AC Ajaccio. The 25-year-old made just 15 appearances in his first season on Corsica, but increased his tally to 27 last term.

4) According to Transfermarkt, Cabit’s contract expires at the end of this month, and it is not only Leeds who are alerted to his potential availability, with RC Lens, FC Metz and Montpellier HSC – the latter of France’s top flight – also listed as suitors by the Daily Mirror.

5) Predominantly a left-back, Cabit has also appeared as a central defender in his time and his versatility could appeal to Bielsa, whose systems are famously flexible. Standing at a deceptively short 5ft 11.5in, Cabit could certainly hold his own on the left of a back three.

Would Cabit be a good signing for Leeds United?
