West Ham United fans appear to have had a mixed reaction over reports that they are interested in Lazio defender Jordan Lukaku.
Lukaku has been a regular with Lazio this term, and would add pace and power to West Ham’s defence.
But there are Hammers fans who are concerned that Lukaku wouldn’t be an upgrade on Arthur Masuaku, due to his questionable defensive qualities.
Arthur Masuaku, he's better than Lukaku!— Alan (@_AlanWHUAlan_) June 13, 2018

I saw him play live once last season and he was hopeless.— M. Blaylock (@mookieb84) June 13, 2018
This would be a sick signing he is quality— Cuxton 91 Falcons (@SV2K18) June 13, 2018
Worth a punt bit like masuaku good going forward not great at defending— barrie senior (@barritelli) June 13, 2018
Great news, hopefully that means Masuaku is our new tricky/pacey winger and we have two left backs.— IronsmanJP (@IronsManJP) June 13, 2018
Opting for the wrong brother 'no pun intended' like with Ayew.— Jay Rudd (Hammer) (@JayRudd4) June 14, 2018
New West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has made a slow start in the transfer window since arriving at the London Stadium, but things appear to be stepping up now.
The Hammers have brought in Ryan Fredericks, and he could be followed be a host of new additions for next season.
West Ham are thought to be close to the signings of both Felipe Anderson and Issa Diop.
If Lukaku was to arrive at West Ham this summer he would be in competition with the likes of Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell for a first-team place.
