Rangers tied up their fifth signing of the summer on Tuesday after sealing a transfer for Nikola Katic - and he might be followed to Ibrox by another man very shortly.
Both are centre-halves and you have to wonder what the future holds for Fabio Cardoso if Goldson joins the Croatian powerhouse in Glasgow.
If and when the Goldson deal goes through, the Gers will have him, Katic, Bruno Alves, Ross McCrorie and Cardoso as centre-back options next term.
It isn't impossible that the Portuguese defender could be Rangers' fifth-choice centre-back come August and surely he must be wondering what manager Steven Gerrard is planning for him.
The 24-year-old didn't have a bad first season in Scotland after joining under Pedro Caixinha, but it wasn't brilliant either and although the same could be said about Alves for instance, at least the 37-year-old has the experience.
Cardoso, on the other hand, doesn't have much going for him and a successful transfer of Goldson might render him surplus to requirements.
