A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that the Gers have confirmed on their official website that Nikola Katic has joined the club on a four-year deal this afternoon.

The Light Blues have wasted no time getting stuck into this transfer window and went into the week having signed Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield, Jamie Murphy and Ovie Ejaria. And now they have confirmed their fifth signing of the summer.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

As reported by the Scottish Premiership side's official website, Rangers have signed Katic on a long-term deal as Steven Gerrard looks to add depth to his defensive options this summer.

The news has gone down extremely well amongst the Ibrox faithful on social media. Katic is a player that few supporters and pundits would have heard of before the links with the Gers emerged, but the 21-year-old was playing regularly for Slovan Belupo in Croatia and made his international debut for his country in 2017.

It was clear that Rangers needed to add more options at the back after a campaign where their defence had often been exposed, and the four-year deal suggests that the club are more than confident that Katic could be one of the men to sure up the back four for this coming season.

The news has certainly left the supporters delighted on Twitter, with many praising the club for how quickly they have got the move across the line given that the links only seemed to emerge in the last few days.
