According to a report from Italian media outlet Premium Sport, Manchester City are lining up a massive €100 million (£88 million) swoop for Juventus winger Douglas Costa, and if they manage to sign the Brazilian, Pep Guardiola's men could be truly unplayable next season.
Amazingly, the 27-year-old only completed his switch from Bayern Munich to Juve on Thursday, in a deal thought to be worth in the region of £35.2 million, according to BBC Sport, but City are reportedly ready to make the Italians an offer that they quite simply would not be able to refuse.
Premium Sport claims that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the 24-capped Brazil international, and sees him as the ideal addition to his squad, in an effort to provide more competition for Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.
Costa is a real talent, and is arguably the best dribbler in world football. His lightening pace, combined with his direct playing style is ideally suited to Guardiola's high-octane setup at the Etihad, and he possesses the kind of ability that could take City to an even higher level, if that is at all possible.
Whilst a move away from Turin seems extremely unlikely considering the fact that Juve only signed him four days ago, they would surely not be able to refuse an instant £53 million profit.
Manchester City were quite simply sensational last season, but the greatest teams throughout history have always continued to strengthen in order to remain at the very top, and bringing Costa to the Etihad would be a real statement of intent from the Premier League champions.
