Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez spoke exclusively to the Shields Gazette, and insisted that if he and his teammates continue to improve, there will be a bright future ahead of them at St James’ Park.

The Magpies enjoyed a relatively successful campaign last season, and ended up finishing in 10th spot in the Premier League table, after initially struggling upon their return to the top flight.

The Toon Army are an expectant bunch, however, and will be keen to see their side take further strides next season by improving upon their 10th placed finish in the table.

Perez, 24, enjoyed a successful campaign from an individual perspective, chalking up 10 goals and four assists in 37 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies.

The Spaniard spoke to the Shields Gazette, and insisted that he envisages a bright future for the Toon, if the players continue to improve:

“The football club has to keep getting better. Things are improving, but still there are lots of things we can do better to make sure we finish higher in the future. We need to keep improving – everyone at the club needs to keep getting better – and that’s the main thing. “We all have to help each other get better, then the future can be bright.”

The key thing for Newcastle this summer will be keeping hold of their manager Rafa Benitez, and if the Spaniard does remain on Tyneside, there is no reason why the Magpies cannot be a real force next season.
