According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfield ace Arturo Vidal this summer, but Arsenal should challenge their rivals for the Chilean's signature.

The 31-year-old joined Bayern from Juventus in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £28 million, according to the Guardian.

Vidal is one of the continent's best ball-winning midfielders, and he would be absolutely ideal for Arsenal, what with his tenacious playing style.

The Gunners have been woefully inept in the midfield department over the past few seasons, with a lack of fight costing them time and time again.

The Chile international would solve that problem in an instant, and whilst it might be hard to tempt him into leaving Bayern for the Emirates, a fresh challenge in the Premier League would still be a major draw.

Vidal is incredibly energetic, and contributes equally both defensively and in the final third. He would be the ideal central midfield partner for Aaron Ramsey, what with the Welshman's more technically gifted playing style.

Quite how much Bayern would demand for the 31-year-old's services is unclear, but with just one year remaining on his current deal with the Bavarian giants, they might just be tempted to cash in on the Chilean.

And should Arsenal offer somewhere in the region of the £28 million that Bayern paid for him three years ago, it might just be enough to convince the Germans into selling.
