Jerry Mbakogu once again touted for Leeds United switch.

Carpi's president has once again made a public statement claiming Jerry Mbakogu is set to head to Leeds United.

The Whites are claimed by Gazzamercato to have an agreement in place to sign the striker.

Now club chief Claudio Caliumi has claimed only a 'cataclysmic event' will prevent Leeds signing the Nigerian.

Tuttomercatoweb report Caliumi told Il Resto di Carlino: "There is a pre contract with Leeds and except for cataclysmic events Jerry will go to England."

Carpi almost seem too keen to get rid of Mbakogu, although that is a cynical way to look at it, when instead they appear to be welcoming the chance to let the striker step up a level and get some money in return.

Mbakogu scored eight goals in all competitions this season, with the second half of his campaign hindered by a knee injury.

Leeds appear in no rush to confirm Mbakogu's arrival, but at least are keeping the option open for now.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported earlier this month that Leeds' option to sign Mbakogu runs up until June 30.
