West Ham United only appointed Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager last week, but a first signing of his reign at the London Stadium could be on the verge of completion.
The Chilean has been brought in as David Moyes' replacement, and after a disappointing campaign, the Hammers need reinforcements all over the pitch.
It seems that West Ham are set to strengthen their right back options first of all, as the Daily Mail report that a deal for Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks is close to completion.
The former Tottenham youngster started in Saturday's 1-0 Championship play-off final win over Aston Villa, but that may well prove to be his final game for the club.
Fredericks is out of contract this summer and can subsequently walk away for free, and it's claimed that he will be moving on to West Ham as he prepares to leave one London club for another.
Unsurprisingly, Fredericks' seemingly imminent move hasn't gone down particularly well at Craven Cottage, with fans admitting that they are 'bewildered' that Fredericks is heading to West Ham to sit on the bench behind Pablo Zabaleta.
Others think that Fredericks' departure isn't the end of the world and thanked him for his service, but some even called the right back 'Judas' over his decision to move on.
Fair play if Fredericks goes to West Ham, more money + he’ll get to play under Pellegrini. He doesn’t owe us anything, we don’t owe him anything.— Christian Paul (@cpaul_ffc) May 31, 2018
Little disappointed he’s leaving considering he’s improved so much in the last 6 months, oh well we’ve got the hero Dennis Odoi
Would be disappointed if Fredericks leaves but not the end of the world. Also, I'm not gonna start calling him a snake and so forth, the guy gave us 3 years of top service and was a big part of getting us back to the Premier League. #FFC— James Chantler (@JChants96) May 31, 2018
If Fredericks does leave then it’s quite simple... the offer on the table isn’t as big as he was hoping, wants more, West Ham willing to give it. If that’s the case then wish him well and we move on #FFC— Ollie (@Ollinho22) May 31, 2018
Do West Ham play nicer football than Fulham? No.— Harrison94FFC (@Harrison94FFC) May 31, 2018
Do West Ham have better squad happiness than Fulham? No.
Are West Ham offering more money? Yes probably
Ryan Judas Fredericks
If you can't tell I'm not happy as I think he's a great player#ffc #fulhamfc #fulhamish
Can't say I'm overly bothered by Fredericks leaving...bit like the Scott Malone meltdown all over again #FFC— P. Adams (@Est1879) May 31, 2018
Would be a bit surprised if Fredericks joins West Ham this summer.— Ad (@ABronsSmith) May 31, 2018
Guaranteed to be the first-choice for Fulham all season, but if he joins West Ham, he'll face competition from Zabaleta.
I'd understand if he jumped ship the following summer, but not now.
Let's see! #FFC
Genuinely surprised and bewildered at Fredericks to West Ham news. Can only think of the wages being a benefit to him? #ffc— Jamie Millar (@JamieMillar90) May 31, 2018
Fredericks is literally going to sit on the bench at West Ham with Pellegrini likely to prefer Zabaleta from his city days, so don’t see the incentive to move bar money. Can tell Pellegrini wasn’t the one trying to buy him either. #ffc #WHUFC— Tyler (@tysidderz) May 31, 2018
Sad to see Fredericks go (especially to a rather uninspiring club like West Ham) but he was never going to sign a new deal. #ffc— Sönke Gorgos (@kingscrossed) May 31, 2018
Don’t really understand fredericks if he leaves tbh— Deano (@DeanColleyFFC) May 31, 2018
Surprised Fredericks is looking elsewhere given we got promoted. Suppose he's entitled to assess his options though. Hopefully we can still retain him!— Dave (@FFC_Dave) May 31, 2018
Fredericks will be a huge loss. His speed and crosses down the right are instrumental to how we play— Aaron (@Aaron_FFC) May 31, 2018
