West Ham United only appointed Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager last week, but a first signing of his reign at the London Stadium could be on the verge of completion.

The Chilean has been brought in as David Moyes' replacement, and after a disappointing campaign, the Hammers need reinforcements all over the pitch.

It seems that West Ham are set to strengthen their right back options first of all, as the Daily Mail report that a deal for Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks is close to completion.

Fredericks, 25, has been a star for Fulham this season, notching seven assists in 47 games as the Cottagers clinched promotion to the Premier League after a four-year exile.

The former Tottenham youngster started in Saturday's 1-0 Championship play-off final win over Aston Villa, but that may well prove to be his final game for the club.

Fredericks is out of contract this summer and can subsequently walk away for free, and it's claimed that he will be moving on to West Ham as he prepares to leave one London club for another.

Unsurprisingly, Fredericks' seemingly imminent move hasn't gone down particularly well at Craven Cottage, with fans admitting that they are 'bewildered' that Fredericks is heading to West Ham to sit on the bench behind Pablo Zabaleta.

Others think that Fredericks' departure isn't the end of the world and thanked him for his service, but some even called the right back 'Judas' over his decision to move on.
