Leeds United have been strongly linked to Kristian Pedersen in recent weeks.

Bild reported earlier in May that the Danish left-back was set to join a Championship club this summer, with the German outlet claiming that Leeds were keen on the Union Berlin man.

The Whites could do with a left-back and the 23-year-old may have fit the bill, but are the Elland Road club about to be gazumped by a familiar foe?

According to Danish publication Extra Bladet, Garry Monk, who this time last year had just quit as United boss, wants to bring Pedersen to Birmingham City.

The report adds that a deal is "close" and that Birmingham could pay as much as £2.3 million for the defender, who joined Union Berlin in 2016.

Tom Pearce is expected to sign a new contract with Leeds soon but manager Paul Heckingbottom will still need another left-back option, with Laurens de Bock and Tyler Denton the recognised alternatives, but it looks like the Whites' Director of Football Victor Orta may have to explore other avenues if the report from Denmark is accurate.
