Pochettino agreed a bumper new deal with Tottenham this week in what is a major boost for Spurs after the Argentine had been linked with Real Madrid.
With his future resolved, Pochettino will now be turning his attentions to strengthening his Tottenham team as they go again to try and crown their rapid rise under his tenure with some silverware.
Thauvin, 25, will be remembered by some Premier League fans for having joined Newcastle in the summer of 2015, arriving with high hopes having starred in his native France.
The winger struggled to adjust to English football though, and scored just one goal in 16 appearances before being sent back to Marseille for the second half of last season.
He has come of age since, though, notching an impressive 41 goals from 95 games for Marseille.
And it appears he is outgrowing Marseille if his latest comments to Eurosport are anything to go by, with Thauvin issuing a not-so-subtle come and get me plea to potential suitors who can offer him Champions League football.
"I feel good at Marseille," Thauvin told Eurosport.
"Aside from that, I am not going to lie, not playing in the Champions’ League is certainly problematic.
"We will see what happens after the World Cup.”
His rising stock could tempt Marseille to sell him on for a profit this summer with RMC Sport claiming that Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino remains keen on him.
