Manuel Pellegrini was appointed the new manager of West Ham United this week, but what does the best in the business Pep Guardiola think of him?

West Ham wanted to go in a different direction this summer and have shelled out more than ever before on a manager to bring Pellegrini in as David Moyes' replacement.

Hammers co-owner David Gold has pledged the club will be spending more than ever before too, in an effort to finally make good on promises made when the club left Upton Park for the London Stadium in Stratford.

The appointment has excited the majority of West Ham's fans who want to see better quality, attacking football.

And according to the best in the business, and manager of Pellegrini's former club Manchester City, Pep Guardiola says supporters won't be disappointed.

"He tries to keep the ball and his teams always play good," Pep Guardiola once said of Pellegrini as reported by Sky Sports.

"I would like to be like him.

"No matter which team he is training, his teams always play in the same way.

"So his fingerprints, his footprints, his trademark on his teams is always there.

"It happened at Villarreal, at Malaga and at Real Madrid."

A gushing verdict if ever there was one and one which will surely excite Hammers fans.

If the man who has just overseen one of the most comfortable and mesmerising title wins in Premier League history wants to be your manager, then who is anyone else to question the appointment?

It looks like West Ham are in for some entertaining football in the coming years.
