Ruben Neves was a key figure in Wolverhampton Wanderers’s successful quest to win promotion to the Premier League this season, and there is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with the midfielder.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham are interested in signing Neves from Wolves this summer, while The Express & Star has credited Manchester United and Liverpool with interest in the Portugal international midfielder.
While it must be tempting for the 21-year-old to swap Wolves for Tottenham, Liverpool or United, his Portuguese compatriot and former Chelsea midfielder Deco, who won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006, has urged the young midfielder to remain at the Molineux Stadium.
Deco told Sky Sports: "He's doing his career step by step. Normally when a player is doing well, everybody says he needs to change to a big club, but I think he's doing his job. He needs to wait, he's young.
"He did well in the Championship when people maybe believed that would not be possible. If I was him I would just relax now and enjoy the Premier League.”
Neves was one of the best players in the Championship this season, and one should not be surprised if Wolves do get big offers for the midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The Portugal international is only 21 years of age, and playing a season in the Premier League with Wolves would be beneficial to his development.
The youngster is settled at the Wanderers, and switching clubs this summer could prove to be a mistake in the long run.
