Rangers are reportedly looking to lure Jermain Defoe and Lucas Leiva to Ibrox.

Rangers may have tied up two new signings this week, but the Gers are far from done there, with two players being linked with big moves to Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard's men have landed goalkeeper Allan McGregor and midfielder Scott Arfield on free transfers, with the duo penning pre-contract agreements to join from Hull City and Burnley respectively.

Gerrard needs to virtually overhaul his entire squad, and with that in mind, The Scottish Sun report that he wants reunions with Lazio midfielder Lucas Leiva and Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe.

Gerrard played alongside Leiva in the heart of the Liverpool midfield, and the Brazilian only left Anfield last summer in order to join Italian side Lazio, where he made 44 appearances this season.

The 31-year-old would allegedly be interested in reuniting with Gerrard, but with Lazio reluctant to sell, Rangers may struggle to strike a deal for the holding midfielder.

Meanwhile, striker Defoe was an England teammate of Gerrard, and is just one year in to a three-year deal with Bournemouth having joined from Sunderland last summer, but he scored just four goals in 23 outings this season.

Gerrard would allegedly want a loan deal for Defoe, 35, and Bournemouth may be willing to pay a chunk of the wages required to take him to Ibrox this summer.

Rangers fans have unsurprisingly taken to Twitter to offer their reactions to the rumours, with many suggesting that Defoe may be a risk given his age, with most wanting to see Leiva arrive.

The general consensus is that Rangers won't be able to land both players, with fans sceptical about the move, saying 'surely not' in response to the rumours whilst voicing concerns about the age of Rangers' transfer targets.
