Rafa Benitez guided his Newcastle to an extremely impressive 10th placed finish in the Premier League this season, but if the Spaniard remains in charge at St James' Park, he has a lot of work to do this summer.

Benitez has a strong group of players at his disposal, but one particular area where he will surely be looking to improve is his centre-forward department.

With this in mind, the Magpies should consider a move for Mario Balotelli, in spite of the obvious risk that a move for the Italian would entail.

Balotelli has often earned headlines for the wrong reasons during his tumultuous career thus far, but there are signs that he has finally matured as both a player and a human being.

The enigmatic Italian is one of the most mercurial talents in the game, and his style of play seems to be tailor made for Newcastle, what with the Toon Army's love for a maverick striker.

Balotelli is a serial winner, having won three Serie A titles, a Premier League title and a Champions League during his time in the game thus far.

His undeniable quality, allied with his wealth of experience in playing at the very highest level makes him the ideal summer signing for Newcastle, and despite question marks still hanging over his head regarding his attitude and temperament, his availability on a free transfer makes him a risk worth taking for the Toon.
