Leeds United are targeting departing Hull City striker.
Leeds United are eyeing a move for Hull City striker Abel Hernandez, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.
Hernandez is set to become available on a free transfer after letting his Hull City contract expire.
Hernandez missed the first part of the season with an injury but still managed to score eight league goals.
This was just two fewer than Leeds striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, in 21 less appearances.
Leeds failed to successfully replace Wood last season and Hernandez would be a big statement of intent.
When a player with Hernandez's track record becomes available, interest will be high and Leeds will face serious competition from him, potentially even from Premier League clubs.
Yet this should not prevent Leeds from trying, and simply targeting the Uruguayan is being seen as a positive sign by supporters...
Abel Hernandez has scored 28 goals in 49 Championship games while at Hull - would be a massive signing if we could pull it off! #lufc— We Are Leeds (@WeAreLeeds1919) May 16, 2018
Sign and keep Abel Hernandez for and it would be a massive statement of intent! Sadly it won't happen though... #lufc— average lufc fan (@polish70) May 16, 2018
Signing Kyle Bartley and Abel Hernandez would go a long way in reassuring me that #lufc are taking a promotion push seriously next season.— Mark Bateman (@MGB8man) May 16, 2018
Bartley and Abel Hernandez would be a very good start to the summer window. A couple of decent wingers would be nice too. And a reliable goalkeeper who is happy to challenge for the number 1 spot. #lufc— Batesy (@BatesyLufc) May 16, 2018
Attempting to sign players like Abel Hernandez is a step in the right direction whether we get him or not. Proven at this level and beyond #lufc— LUKE DARESCHANI XXX (@DareschaniXxx) May 16, 2018
Abel Hernandez and Kyle Bartley would be a massive signal of intent! Get it done early Leeds! #lufc— Lawrence O'Sullivan (@LozzaOfficial) May 16, 2018
